Fighter

Fighter, formerly Undergroundfighter, is a 2010-born Thoroughbred and former steeplechaser who now helps riders build confidence in the arena. Brave, kind and full of character, he shows just how much heart off-the-track Thoroughbreds can bring to their second careers.

Undergroundfighter, known at Racing Hearts as Fighter, is a 2010-born Australian Thoroughbred by Shinzig out of French Resistence. Before joining our herd, Fighter had a big racing career as a steeplechase horse — a job that takes courage, athleticism, focus and an enormous amount of heart.

Today, Fighter brings that same heart into a very different kind of work. Now retired from racing, he has become part of the Racing Hearts lesson and therapy herd, helping riders learn, grow and build confidence in the saddle. Like many off-the-track Thoroughbreds, he has shown that a horse’s racing career is only one chapter of their story.

Fighter is full of character and presence, with the kind of history that makes him a wonderful ambassador for Thoroughbred aftercare. He reminds our riders that bravery can look different in a second career — sometimes it is jumping fences on a racecourse, and sometimes it is quietly helping someone find their balance, trust their body and feel proud of what they can do.

Sponsoring Fighter helps support his feed, hay, veterinary care, farrier work, dental care, bodywork and day-to-day wellbeing, allowing him to continue being cared for, valued and celebrated in his life after racing.

What Sponsorship Helps Cover

When you sponsor a horse at Racing Hearts McIntyre Centre, you are helping provide the care, feed, health support, and training that allows these horses to continue changing lives. Your support helps retired racehorses find purpose, helps participants access meaningful programs, and helps keep this Centre alive for the community.
