Our centre provides a welcoming equine environment for riders, participants, families, volunteers, visitors and community members.

I want to take a moment to properly introduce myself. My name is Kaili, and I’m thrilled to have joined Racing Hearts as the new Centre Manager and coach.
The legacy of the McIntyre Centre is deeply important to me. Many years ago (and we’ll decline to mention just how many), I grew up riding and volunteering right here at the McIntyre. It shaped not only the rider and coach I became, but also the direction of my life and career.

What a day at the Racing Hearts Charity Polo Day 🏇

Fast horses, incredible people, and so much support for retired racehorses finding their second chance. We loved seeing everyone come together to enjoy an amazing day of polo while supporting what Racing Hearts is all about.

Thank you to everyone who came along, supported the event, chatted with our team and helped make the day one to remember 🤍

Join us at Cabarita Beach, NSW, for a relaxed 3-day retreat from the 29th to 31st May, focusing on connection, calm and spending quality time with your horse.

We’ll be doing a mix of mindful riding, groundwork, breathwork, sound baths, beach rides and campfires at sunset, all designed to help you and your horse slow down and reset together.

Facilitated by Lisa Coffey from Racing Hearts and Will Shaw from Equine on the Move.

We have so many exciting programs coming to Racing Hearts for 26/27. A new website, new healing modalities…a whole new method of helping people and horses that I’ve been working on for the past 12-18 months.

Part of these exciting additions will be International Healing Retreats in collaboration with some incredible organisations and venues.

For the last 2 weeks I have been travelling around the North Island of New Zealand to find the perfect location to bring my NZ Retreat vision to life. Bringing the beauty of the landscape and nature together with the powerful healing traditions of Māori culture.

Travelling from Auckland, had stops in Clevedon, Raglan, Whanganui, Lake Taupō, Tauranga, Rotorua and Hamilton. I’ve found 2 fabulous locations ~ one in Whanganui and one in Rotorua that I’ll start planning with for late this year and through 2027. I particularly loved being in the Rotorua area and stayed a lot longer than planned there and managed to get in plenty of activities time 🚲 🥾 🌋. A welcome break from the rush of the norm.

Whilst I was supposed to fly back to Brisbane today, I had a call from South Island that I couldn’t ignore. Very excited to see what this week brings. Follow us to stay tuned for more info and let us know if you’d be interested in coming along to a retreat 🐎 💖

Weekend fun with our littlies 🦄😆

After a big week of therapy sessions, weekends are for games, smiles, and catching up with friends.

What game should we play next weekend?

We understand that it’s not always possible to take big chunks of time to recover from stressful situations at work (or in life).

When you’re feeling stressed or overwhelmed, take 5 minutes to do this incredible breathing technique that will settle your nervous system and help you feel more relaxed.

We call this the 365 Breathing Technique.

Take yourself somewhere quiet where you won’t be disturbed. Breathe in and out through your nose if you can or in through your nose and out through your mouth if easier to begin.

With each inhale, breathe in for 5 seconds.

With each exhale, breathe out for 5 seconds.

This will help slow your breathing to 6 breaths per minute.

Focus on your heart and notice how each round flows into a more gentle rhythm.

Repeat for 5 minutes.

If you have some music you love and can play it, perhaps through headphones, this can really enhance the experience.

Do this 3 times a day and you will notice a few different ways that your body feels more relaxed.

🌬️ You might find your nervous system regulates a lot quicker than before.

🌬️ You may notice an increased capacity or tolerance for stressful situations.

🌬️ Areas in your body that have been carrying tension physically may release.

🌬️ Heart rate may be more stable.

🌬️ Your mind may be clearer or less busy/foggy.

⌚️ 365 - 3 times a day, 6 breaths per minute for 5 minutes.

The Morning Feed Run ☀️

This is one of my favourite times of the day.

Early in the morning where I can take some time to notice everything around me with such immense gratitude.

In a busy life, simply being able to sit in peace with my horses is a gift.

Watching them enjoy fresh water with the sun on their backs and the gentle breeze.

Their grounded presence reminds me to be present in these moments.

To allow the beauty of them, and the sounds and sensations of nature calm my body and quieten my mind.

Something we experience frequently with our clients is their strong connection to horses, but their struggle to connect to other people. Or why one day they’ll have a ‘good ride’ and not every day. This post By @melissajeanpt dips into one of the most important reasons this can happen 💖 ➡️ When people ask me why some horse–human interactions feel different — why some feel regulated and others feel like two nervous systems running in different directions — my answer is usually the same.

The conditions weren’t right.

Research on physiological synchrony between horses and humans suggests that co-regulation is not a given. It appears to depend on a cluster of interacting variables — each one influencing the others.

They’re not complicated. But they’re easy to overlook — especially when we’re focused on the horse’s behavior rather than our own nervous system state entering the paddock.
