Lager

Lager, formerly Lagerfeld, is a 2014-born Thoroughbred who spent three years on the track before finding his second career at Racing Hearts. Kind, capable and full of presence, he is a lovely example of how Thoroughbreds can thrive with new purpose after racing.

Lager, officially known as Lagerfeld, is a 2014-born Australian Thoroughbred by Denman out of Coco Kerringle. Before joining the Racing Hearts herd, Lager had a solid racing career, spending three years on the track from 2018 to 2021 and recording 30 starts, 7 wins and 8 seconds.

Now in his second career, Lager is part of the Racing Hearts story of giving horses purpose beyond racing. Like many off-the-track Thoroughbreds, he has had to learn that life after the track looks very different — slower, quieter and centred around trust, connection and partnership with people.

Lager brings presence, athleticism and sensitivity to his work, making him a valuable reminder of what Thoroughbreds can offer when they are given patient education and the chance to settle into a new role. His racing career showed his ability and determination; his life now shows the adaptability and heart that make retired racehorses so special.

Sponsoring Lager helps support his feed, hay, veterinary care, farrier work, dental care, bodywork, training and everyday wellbeing as he continues to be cared for, valued and given meaningful purpose in his life after racing.
