Equine-Assisted Reiki

Step away from the noise and into a space of deep rest, connection and gentle restoration. Our Equine-Assisted Reiki sessions combine intuitive energy work with the calm, grounded presence of our retired racehorses, creating space for your nervous system to settle, your body to soften and your attention to return inward. Each experience is personal and unhurried, with the horses invited to connect entirely on their own terms — offering a unique opportunity to feel supported, present and deeply connected to yourself.

Private Reiki Sessions with Horses

Reiki and energy collaboration is at the heart of the sessions I offer. I may also incorporate elements from other practices I have studied, creating an intuitive and personalised experience intended to support healing, relaxation, energetic balance and a deeper connection with yourself. These sessions offer an opportunity to pause, step away from everyday demands and allow your whole nervous system to become regulate. As you settle into a deeply restful state, you may begin to notice areas of tension soften and release, your breathing ease and a greater sense of balance return. Rather than following an identical process with every person, each session responds to what you bring on the day. You are invited to slow down, listen to your body and receive the experience without needing to achieve or force anything.

Your first Reiki Session

Before your initial appointment, you will be invited to complete a confidential intake form. This gives me an understanding of your current wellbeing, the stressors you may be experiencing and any physical or emotional considerations relevant to your session.

We will also take some time to discuss what has brought you to Reiki, what you would like support with and anything that may help you feel comfortable and safe during the experience.

You will remain fully clothed and rest face up or face down on a comfortable massage table within my peaceful healing space. Adjustments can be made if another position is more comfortable for you.

With relaxing music and lighting, your session may begin with an intuitive chakra and energy assessment to identify areas that feel depleted, unsettled or in need of additional attention. I can also check for any emotional blockages that need to be cleared in order for you to move in the direction of something you feel stuck with.

From there, I use gentle, intentional touch or pressure —or work just above the body—to encourage relaxation and support a balanced flow of energy. With your consent, I may incorporate complementary techniques suited to your individual needs such as sound vibration for example. The session is always guided by your comfort, boundaries and what feels appropriate for you in that moment.

What you may notice during Reiki

Everyone experiences Reiki differently. During or following your session, you may notice:

·       Deep relaxation or stillness

·       Warmth, tingling or other physical sensations

·       Subtle muscle movements, twitches or shifts in the body

·       Changes in breathing

·       Emotions arising or releasing

·       Laughter, tears or spontaneous sounds

·       Mental imagery or intuitive insights

·       A feeling of clarity, lightness or connection

·       Very little at all beyond a sense of rest

There is no correct way to experience Reiki. Some people notice strong physical or emotional responses, while others experience quiet and subtle changes. Neither is more meaningful than the other. You are encouraged to remain curious about your own experience without comparing it with anyone else’s. Over time, these sessions may help you become more aware of the ways your body communicates when it needs rest, support or space.

How Often Should I Book a Private Reiki Session?

When beginning Reiki, you may benefit from attending weekly for the first few weeks. This gives you an opportunity to become familiar with the practice and observe how you respond during and after each session. From there, we can discuss a rhythm that feels supportive and realistic for you. Some people continue regularly, while others book occasionally when they feel the need to rest, reconnect or rebalance.

The Horse Connection

In Reiki and breathwork sessions with our beautiful retired racehorses, we invite the horses to connect with you as willing co-facilitators in the session. Their participation is never forced; they are free to approach, remain nearby, move away or engage in whatever way feels natural to them. Horses are deeply sensitive to body language, energy and subtle changes within their environment. Their calm, grounded presence can help you feel more connected to your body, supported in the present moment and less alone in your experience. When connected with the horses, clients often express feelings of unconditional love, support, protection, a being to lean on, safe physical touch, grounded presence and not being abandoned.

During a session, a horse may choose to stand quietly nearby, move closer during a particular moment or simply remain within the surrounding space. Sometimes their presence is subtle, while at other times their responses may feel especially meaningful. There is no expectation that a horse will interact in a particular way, and nothing needs to happen for their presence to be valuable. We believe that the horses can sense areas of the body that need localised healing and that they can help move and clear blocked energy and emotions, just as the practitioner does. We often notice common behaviour in the horses in these moments of presence and intuition where the horse is grounded, present and connected with a client. When the client feels or expresses a change, we will often see the horses that have connected with the client, lick and chew, yawn, stretch, shake or roll. We believe this indicates they are releasing energy through their own body movements.

At the beginning and end of each session you will be invited to interact with the horses. At the start of a session the intention is to introduce yourself and connect with the horses allowing you to feel safe in their presence. We will also work with the horses to set an intention for the session based on your desired outcome. Towards the end of the session, the horses will support you in integrating your experiences. Horse interactions can look different in each session and can be anything from simply observing them to tactile exercises. Each experience and interaction is designed to help your nervous system become aligned with the horses so that both you and they feel safe in the session. You will always be supported to engage at a level that feels comfortable for you. No previous horse experience is required, and the wellbeing, boundaries and autonomy of both you and the horses remain central throughout every session.
