Welcome to Volunteering at Racing Hearts

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Racing Hearts McIntyre Centre. Our volunteers play an essential role in helping us deliver our riding, equine, community and disability programs. We warmly welcome new volunteers, but because we work with children, adults with disability, families and horses, every volunteer must complete the correct onboarding and training before beginning. This process is essential for the safety and wellbeing of our riders, participants, families, staff, horses and fellow volunteers.

By completing the onboarding process and joining the roster, you agree to follow Racing Hearts policies, child safe requirements, confidentiality obligations, staff instructions and all horse and workplace safety procedures. We are incredibly grateful for the commitment of our volunteers and look forward to welcoming you to the Racing Hearts community.

Becoming an Approved Volunteer

Before you can join the volunteer roster, you will need to:

  1. Complete the required volunteer application and onboarding forms.

  2. Read and agree to the Child Safe Code of Conduct.

  3. Complete the Confidentiality Agreement and all other required safety documentation and waivers (work through Step 1 through 7).

  4. Attend a Racing Hearts volunteer induction – this is your practical training session.

  5. Meet the relevant Blue Card requirements.

  6. Receive your Racing Hearts Volunteer Card, showing your approved volunteer level, skills and responsibilities.

  7. Gain access to the volunteer portal and weekly roster.

Your Volunteer Card must be brought with you and clipped to the board whenever you are volunteering. It helps us know who is on-property at any given time, confirms that you have completed the required onboarding and identifies the duties, tasks and skills you have been approved to undertake. All volunteers under 18 must be supervised by an adult at all times. Volunteers must only perform tasks they have been trained and approved to complete. Additional skills and responsibilities may be added as you gain experience and complete further training. Please scroll down to view the Volunteer Roster and schedule your volunteer shift.

The Volunteer Roster

Racing Hearts operates a large lesson and volunteer program. Our weekly roster helps us coordinate the many generous people who give their time and ensures we have the correct number of trained volunteers and supervising staff for each day, program or event.  Once you sign up for a volunteer shift, we rely on you to attend. Please provide at least 48 hours notice if you need to cancel or change your shift. This gives us time to find another suitable volunteer and helps ensure our lessons and programs can continue safely. We understand that genuine emergencies happen. However, repeated late cancellations or missed shifts may affect your ability to book future volunteer sessions.
